New World Order

New world order refers to efforts of uniting world superpowers with the aim of maintaining peace, safety, and security. The idea is to have a totalitarian global government that will replace the sovereign nation states. The trial to unite the whole world has been attempted and severally failed. Adolf Hitler is a leader who aimed to gain control of the world but was not able to achieve it. The prevailing theory about new world order is that there exist secretive power elite, which mission is to rule the world through authoritarian government. Today, the move towards new order gets a drive through globalization, aims of a single world governance, and global governance. The objective is to abolish all ordered governments, ensure that there is no more private property, inheritance, patriotism, no families, and no religion. Under this governance, people are expected to behave in a deliberate way and live according to the rule. People will not have freedom of thinking for themselves of preserving cultures they term as their own. Some view it in a light way of benefits, while others see it as a bad idea in terms of robbing people of their right to think for themselves. Globalization is the primary force behind new world order where states agree to open trade and reduce barriers. Globalization has made the world economy to become significant, while the ecosystem and recourses are becoming limited. The world has become more concerned about the amount of production and pays little attention to the sustainability of the development. The primary concern is to end unemployment and ensure that every person has relatively equal living standards. New world order aims at reducing the population and leaves only the amount that the world can support. However, it has not come up with the best way of doing that without hurting the humanity. I agree with Daly (1) who says that to develop a sustainable economy in the limited biosphere, we need to come up with a new style of thinking.

History of New World Order – Economic Perception

New world order has an association with early globalization, which develops due to long-distance trade. People started to move from their places to sell their surplus. The deals came with terms and conditions and territories. Sharing ideas and inventions has made it possible to expand business territories. It grew more in the era of industrialization in the nineteenth century. The latter made it possible to manufacture goods at a low price by using the economy of scale, while increased population growth in the urban areas provided a market for the produced commodities. At the end of the Second World War, Europe began exporting its products to China and the whole of Asia. Sub-Saharan Africa, which was by then ruled by European countries, provided cheap raw materials like diamond and rubber coal among others. It helped the industries to grow rapidly. World trade system has already gained its roots after the era of African colonization. The countries started making free trade unions and eliminate trade barriers. During that time, sustainable development was barely paid attention to.

Karl Marx lamented over the evil of turning from agriculture to industrialization (Daly 5). He foresaw how the economic turn to capitalization would lead to labor exploitation so as to make maximum profit. Marx thought that way to stop exploitation was to change the industries ownership from individual to governmental (Daly 6). He, however, overlooked the fact that the people were the same who made the state and are full of greed. In a very real sense, it could have been worse as the government would use its power and make rules that force people to work under harsh conditions in order to maximize its profit. The power of changing a business cycle lies in the government as it can enforce its command of business people.

Economic Aims of New World Order

The primary goal of new world order is to reduce poverty and improve economy. It tries to balance trade between different countries by removing the restriction of export and import. It allows a country to develop its export, which leads to increasing revenue. Next, it allows a country to specialize in manufacturing one commodity, thus leading to improvement of manufacturing methods and economy of scale. Consequently, the goods are produced at low prices because the manufacturing processes are located in regions where raw materials and labor are cheap. Afterwards, the products are sold in all the market areas including those where the cost of production is high, thus maximizing profit. The economy of scale allows people to buy commodities at a low price and spend less. It helps to create jobs in such a country, therefore improving living standards of the citizens. The trade unions allow labor mobility that enables people to move from the area of unemployment to the regions where there are jobs. Companies and industries benefit from such movement as they employ people at a relatively low cost, thus reducing the cost of production. It also helps countries with weak labor force to source from abroad without incurring a lot of costs. The labor force movement also increases the demand for goods and housing in destination place, which leads to more production and development.

Our Process

The free trade performed by new world order also allows competition as there are different traders from various countries selling the same commodity. Competition ensures that goods brought in the market are of high quality and are always available when consumers need them. Countries are also able to invite investors as the terms are favorable. The latter help to boost the industrial development, especially in Third World countries creating more jobs and earning the state revenue. These countries also benefit from cheap technology as most developed countries like China, Japan, and the USA are seeking for the market where they can sell their commodities.

New World Order and Sustainable Development

Daly (1) observes that every problem's solution is always an economic growth. An increase in production can reduce unemployment; poverty has the same solution; and even the adjustment of rapid population growth is possible through increasing economic growth, which will automatically reshape demography by reducing the birth rate. Environmental degradation can be also reduced through economic growth which will first lead to an increase of pollution followed by its declining. This, he says, is possible if only there is unlimited space to carry out this development, which is not the case as the biosphere is finite. Continued growth of infrastructure will lead to sacrificing natural resources like water reserves, forests, and environmental cleanness. In the long run, the development will cease to be sustained by the biosphere. America is close to reaching the level of unsustainable development. Adsafu-Adjaye et al. (5) say that humanity must use the economic, technological and social ability to improve living standard, ensure the climate stability, and offer protection for natural environment. They further say that people must reduce the impact they have on the environment and give nature a chance to flourish.

We must avoid overdependence on natural environment and reduce the amount of pollutants ejected into it. There is a need to change the way of production, utility, and policies guarding the environment. Most countries have such policies, but they have a hard time implementing them. This trouble exists because their implementation can only be done by individuals through understanding the effect of unsustainable development and future danger. It calls for thinking of next generation and the ways of survival. With the current rate of population growth, there is a need for reflecting the survival without depending on the natural things as they are not developing.

One of the ways to achieve sustainability is producing goods that last longer. More durable commodities mean that their production will reduce. The resources used to provide such items will also be reduced and conserved for future use. The conservation of energy employed in the production of these goods will be present as well. Less production will also lead to less environmental pollution and reduced greenhouse effect. For example, a cloth that last longer will take time before it is disposed to the environment as compared with the product of poor quality. Furthermore, this durability can be applied to machinery, household commodities, and game balls among others. It is also advisable that people use recyclable goods so that they do not have to be disposed to the environment after consumption. Recycling helps to reduce the cost of production and to create jobs in the industries as well. It also contributes to reducing space needed for dumping used items and to the diseases associated with dumping sites.

Another way to avoid overdependence on natural resources is an increase of agricultural productivity within the available area. This productivity is a way of preventing people to encroach on the forests and natural water reserves. Using modern technology in agriculture will help reduce the size of land required to feed humans and animals.  It also reduces labor requirement and increases the amount of harvests per unit area. This type of farming will leave enough unused land to facilitate reforestation. Forests are the primary natural reserves of clean water and reduced greenhouse effect by utilization of carbon dioxide. Any efforts to preserve and conserve the forests will lead to sustainable development. Developed countries have been able to achieve reforestation, and the developing ones are also making efforts towards the goal. The countries are concentrating their population at urban areas leaving enough land for agriculture and forest conservation. It results in fewer people tending to the farms and increasing productivity in order to meet the food demand.

It is also crucial for people to live within their means. This lifestyle calls for people to survive with the least means possible and to avoid wastage of resources. For example, it can be using less water and energy in the homestead through switching off the lights and water taps when not in use. It also advocates for eating less meat and turning to vegetables and crop foods. Such eating style will reduce the amount of land required to sustain animals that need meat and reduce the lifestyle diseases associated with excessive consumption of animal protein. People also need to shop only what they require and order for food or cook it only when they want to eat to avoid wastage. We also need to be cautious of commodities we purchase in order to ensure that we buy from the company that care for the environment, and its goods will not cause harmful side effects to our bodies.

There is a need to avoid overreliance on the nonrenewable sources of energy like oil and natural gas. We should also reduce or stop the use of charcoal and firewood as a source of energy as it leads to deforestation. Many countries are now moving towards green energy. China is a leader among the countries that have put a lot of effort to achieve the goal of green energy. It has established energy generators that use wind to produce energy. Many countries have also adopted hydroelectric power. The benefits of this type of energy are that it is renewable as no water or wind is consumed during the process. Solar energy is another form of renewable resources, where sun rays are trapped using solar panels to produce electricity. The advantage of solar energy over wind and water is that a household does not need any constant connectivity. The amount of energy is dependent on the quality of panel and the sun intensity and duration. This energy is the cheapest one as people need to pay no bills. They only need money to buy and set up solar panels which will be in use for an extended period.

Future of New World Order

The future of new world order is dependent on digitalization and globalization. Digitalization and technology have made the world to become a small village. It has led to culture erosion as people tend to copy what they see others doing. The internet has enabled everyone including those in the remote areas to have access to information. People no longer need to travel for gathering information. Even farmers are now using online platforms to gain information on better ways of farming. Education has also shifted, and more people are now registering for online courses than ever before. Banking services have also adopted the digital trend as a person can make quick transactions from the comfort of their houses, further order and pay for goods, and wait for delivery. There are also online doctors whom patients can pay and get treatment if the condition is not a big deal. The machines are now used to do a lot of work, especially in manufacturing industries. Data calculation, computation, analysis, and presentation are no longer manual. The military are now sending robots to the war to drop bombs and take pictures. Health services are also using robots to deliver and produce medication.

While it is not easy to predict the exact nature of future digitalization, it is clear that every sector is moving towards the use of robots. It seems that in the future, every possible manual work will be done by them. For example, in the current market, someone has to deliver goods bought online to the client. It seems like robots will be sent to make delivery in the future. Vehicles will no longer need someone to drive them but will be controlled remotely in a way that one person will be able to monitor more than one vehicle. Classes will no longer need an in-person teacher, and students will not need to go to school to get the education. The movement will be limited and only done deliberately for socializing and exercising. The robots will undertake any dangerous activities to guarantee the safety of human beings. People will no longer need to have liquid cash but will do all transactions by digital transfer of numbers.

Our Benefits

Globalization has helped to increase the growth rate of the developing countries. It has increased the number of industries and created employment. Education and technology have also been improved. The developing countries have also found a market for their commodities earning them foreign exchange and revenue. On the contrary, the developed countries are not happy with free trade and globalization. Their economic growth is not as fast as before. Their industries have slowed down as there is high competition with the commodities from the developing countries where labor is cheap. There are also complaints that immigrants are taking jobs, which results in citizens being unemployed. Moreover, the developed countries fear that they are not as powerful as they used to be since other states have enhanced their own influence. These are some reasons that have led to ‘Brexit.’ It is also not clear whether America will join the largest trade union, ‘Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade’ after electing new president. The developed countries want to go to an old way of trading where there will be conditions for exports and imports rather than free trade. They want to safeguard the employment for the citizens and ensure productivity in their industries. With this kind of a threat, it is hard to predict whether there is future for globalization or not.

Concerns about New World Order

New world order also faces opposition from numerous groups in the society. The main fighting group is the religious people, especially the Christians. They are relating the upcoming changes with prophesies written in the Book of Revelation and are fearing that these actions are satanic. There is also fear of one world under one rule, or the world getting divided into large regions with few rules. In case such condition is reached, the states will lose their standards and will have to follow common standards. Humans will not have their right to think for themselves. Nevertheless, there is a good chance to eradicate poverty and improve the living standards of every person across the world. There are few fights between relatively equal people as one of the leading causes of wars is a feeling that some people are having better lives than others. In a globalized world, every person has a chance to be treated as an equal regardless of where they come from or their race, gender, religion, etc. Every person will have access to the necessary requirements and medical care. For the realization of these goals, world population has to be reduced to a manageable amount. Most countries including the developing ones are moving towards the phase of low fertility rate and low mortality rate. These will help to achieve the reduction of world population, although it will take some time.

The use of robots has a lot of resistance. Robots follow the installed instruction and have no reasoning that can tell them when to stop unless they receive different instructions. For example, in the case of a classroom, the robot only gives information and provides direction. It will not be able to create the attachment with the student as the teacher is capable of and will not realize when a child has a problem. The biggest concern is in the military, where robots are sent to drop bombs. The latter just fall where needed. Unlike the human being, the robots do not have the ability to make decisions. For example, in case a person is fighting, the policemen will make decision to shoot the criminal and do not harm the innocent people. This decision making is not possible for robots, although there are future hopes of creating robots that can make decisions.

Many people do not understand the real meaning of new world order, or the statement comes with rather a lot of misconception and conspiracy. For an economist, it only means working together to come up with financial growth for the benefit of every person, ensuring that there are no extremes of poor and rich people. However, there need to be environmental concerns to achieve this goal. People should stop overrelying on natural resources and practice sustainable development. There has to be a reduction in the release of greenhouse gasses which lead to global warming, and reduction of waste disposed into the environment. These are the only ways to ensure future generations live better lives, thus achieving the aims of new world order.
